Important announcement for Hearing Aid Services

Effective March 3, 2025, the Hearing & Speech Department at MedStar Washington Hospital Center will be implementing a Walk-In Clinic service for patients with hearing aids. The Walk-In Clinic will be replacing our current hearing aid drop-off service. Please take note of the information below prior to stopping by for hearing aid servicing.

Walk-In Clinic Hours:

Tuesdays from 9 am – 11:45 am
Wednesdays from 1 pm – 3:45 pm

Please note: Only the first 12 patients to arrive during these time frames will be accommodated.

What CAN be completed during the Walk-In Clinic hours?

  • Cleaning your hearing aids, including:

    • Replacing wax filters, domes, and tubing

    • Cleaning microphones

    • Cleaning/sanitizing custom earpieces

  • Fitting new or remade earmolds

  • Dispensing repaired hearing aids

  • Pairing your hearing aids to your cell phone

What CANNOT be completed during the Walk-In Clinic hours?

  • Hearing aid re-programming

  • Services for implantable devices (e.g., cochlear implants and osseointegrated devices)

  • Addressing fit issues (e.g., if your hearing aids are uncomfortable or not staying in your ears)

  • New hearing aid fittings

  • Teaching you how to use your hearing aid

  • Hearing tests

Walk-Ins are intended to be brief visits (15 minute maximum) for basic hearing aid troubleshooting. If you have a lot of concerns with your hearing aids, you should schedule a hearing aid follow-up appointment (1 hour). Your Walk-In visit is subject to being ended by your provider if it exceeds 15 minutes.

If your hearing aids were not fit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and you wish to use our Walk-In Clinic service, you will first need to schedule a follow-up appointment to establish care with one of our audiologists.

Lastly, hearing aid drop-offs will no longer be accepted for servicing after February 25th, 2025 – no exceptions. If you would like your hearing aids checked, you must schedule a follow-up appointment or come in during Walk-In Clinic hours.
