About me
Fady Iskander, MD, FSCAI, FACC, is a fellowship-trained, full-time interventional cardiologist practicing at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. He is board-certified in interventional cardiology, internal medicine, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Iskander’s clinical interests include complex coronary interventions, atherectomy, and coronary imaging. He is experienced in structural heart procedures—including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, and valvuloplasty.
He also has expertise in the transradial cardiac catheterization procedure—the gold standard for cardiac catheterization. At MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, over 90% of cardiac catheterizations are performed transradially.
Dr. Iskander earned a master’s degree in clinical research from Rush University in Chicago. He has published multiple scientific papers and his passion for clinical research helps improve the lives of patients.
Dr. Iskander finds listening to patients is the key for quality care. He takes time to listen to his patients and understand their goals for each visit. He also prioritizes patient education and explains conditions and medical procedures in simple language. This increased understanding enables his patients to weigh in on their treatment plan. He encourages shared decision making to provide personalized care to achieve the best outcomes.
Dr. Iskander was named a Baltimore Magazine “Top Doc” for interventional cardiology in 2022 and 2023.
