About me
J. Summer Morea, MSN, FNP-BC, ANVP-BC, ASC-BC is a double board certified nurse practitioner who practices at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, as part of the hospital’s Comprehensive Stroke Center team. MedStar Franklin Square was named a Comprehensive Stroke Center in 2023, the highest level of designation available by The Joint Commission and the Maryland Institute of EMS Systems (MIEMSS).
Morea is certified in acute neurovascular clinical practice for advanced practice providers. She is recognized as an expert in the assessment, medical diagnosis by localization and neuroimaging interpretation, and hyperacute treatment decision-making for highly vulnerable acute stroke patients. She is also actively involved in several stroke research projects facilitated out of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center; she is named a sub investigator for research that is important in advancing care for patients cared for at Comprehensive Stroke Centers. Additionally, Morea leads MedStar Franklin Square’s post-stroke follow-up clinic, a one-of-a-kind patient care clinic in Baltimore that focuses on patient recovery and outcome optimization, following a stroke. The clinic addresses risk factors, medication compliance, individualized education, and recommended lifestyle modifications.
Morea earned a bachelor of science degree from Grand Canyon University, followed by a master of science degree from East Tennessee State University. She went on to complete a neurology fellowship through a joint program offered by Arizona State University and the University of Tennessee.
