About me

Vinita Singh, MD, is a fellowship-trained medical oncologist, board certified in both medical oncology and internal medicine. She provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients diagnosed with a wide range of cancers, including breast, lung, colorectal, gastric, gynecological, prostate, and hematologic malignancies such as leukemia and lymphoma.

Dr. Singh has been practicing since the 1990’s, working as both a private practice physician and as part of hospital medical teams, dedicated to the advancement of cancer care. At the MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, she is part of a multidisciplinary team of oncologists and clinical care providers who collaborate to build and implement comprehensive plans of care for each patient. Dr. Singh and her colleagues advocate for patient participation in clinical trials and apply a holistic approach to cancer care. She accounts for the medical, emotional, and social needs of her patients, and makes education a key priority as she is meeting with patients and their families throughout the course of treatment.

Prior to joining MedStar Health, Dr. Singh served as an assistant professor of medicine at the College of Medicine at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C., where she also led the Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.

Dr. Singh’s Philosophy of Care

“Patients want to trust us and feel they are on the right path. They are scared, understandably. I try to diffuse their fears my making them understand, in simple terms, what to expect and how we can help them. It’s one of the things I love most about being a medical oncologist. I am in a position to help people by navigating them through a process. My patients are very special to me and I am committed to providing each with personalized care.”
