Letter from our Chair

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is a premier provider of comprehensive ear, nose and throat care. Our faculty employ the latest treatments and technologies to ensure the highest quality of care for patients of all ages. In addition to excellent patient care, we are committed to advancing medicine through resident and medical student education and research.

Stability is the bedrock of a great residency training experience and the Georgetown residency program is built on this. At the core is the stable platform for training at three major institutions: MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and the Washington, DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center. For 40 years, these three institutions have been the primary training grounds for our residents. Added to these is a stable and robust faculty who place patient care first and resident education just behind that. A third, and most important, ingredient is brought by an inquisitive and energetic resident complement. These three components provide the stability and strength of our outstanding residency program.

We recognize that the reputation of our program is developed through the contribution made by our current residents and faculty as well as by our former residents. As residents, faculty and alumni, their continued excellent clinical work and their academic or other service accomplishments represent our program well.
