Edward Woo

Edward Woo, MD, is director of the MedStar Regional Vascular Program. In addition, he is chief of Vascular Surgery, MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. He previously was vice-chief, Division of Vascular Surgery, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

Dr. Woo is a Distinguished Fellow of the Society of Vascular Surgery and serves on its Postgraduate Education Committee. He is a member of several other national and regional professional and scientific societies, including the American College of Surgeons and the Society of University Surgeons.

Dr. Woo serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for Endovascular Today and as a reviewer for other peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Vascular Surgery, Journal of Endovascular Therapy, Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Annals of Vascular Surgery and the Journal of Invasive Cardiology. He is a frequently invited speaker at national and international meetings, speaking on topics ranging from endovascular treatment options to treatment of infected grafts. Dr. Woo has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles on his research.

He has been named a “Top Doctor” by Philadelphia Magazine and one of “America’s Top Doctors” by U.S. News and World Report. He serves as an examiner for the Vascular Certifying Examination. Dr. Woo is fluent in Chinese as well as English, and he is board-certified in general and vascular surgery.

Dr. Woo earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia, where he also completed an internship and residency in General Surgery. He then completed fellowships in Surgical Research and Vascular Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center.​​​

Dr. Woo is principal investigator on this trial sponsored by Zenith and Cook Medical. This study is designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a new endovascular stent graft device.

IN.PACT Drug-Eluting Balloon Trial

Dr. Woo is a principal investigator on this trial sponsored by Medtronic. This study will assess the safety and efficacy of the IN.PACT Admiral Drug-Eluting Balloon in the treatment of atherosclerotic disease.

Abdominal Branched Endograft for Pararenal/Juxtarenal Aneurysms

Dr. Woo is the national principal investigator for this device trial sponsored by Medtronic.
