Maen Farha

Maen Farha, MD, is the medical director of the Breast Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital (MUMH) and a faculty member in the Department of Surgery. In addition, he is an assistant clinical professor of surgery, Saba University School of Medicine, Saba, Dutch Caribbean.

Dr. Farha has more than 20 years of experience in the diagnosis and management of breast disease. As head of the Breast Center, he advocates a multidisciplinary team approach for the treatment of breast disease, in which teams of specialists collaborate with patients to develop individualized treatment plans.

As a breast surgeon, Dr. Farha has extensive experience performing sentinel lymph node biopsies as well as minimally invasive breast biopsy procedures, and he is certified by the American Society of Breast Surgeons in stereotactic and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies. He also provides state-of-the-art treatment options, including breast conserving surgery, intraoperative radiation therapy and accelerated partial breast radiation therapy.

Dr. Farha has been recognized as a Top Doctor by Baltimore magazine. His research has been published in the Journal of Laparoendoscopic and Advanced Surgical Techniques. He is board certified in surgery, and he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Farha’s primary language is English, and he is fluent in Arabic.

His medical degree is from the American University of Beirut. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery at MUMH.

E75 Vaccine -- Combination Immunotherapy with Herceptin and the HER2 Vaccine NeuVax (HER2 1 or 2+)

Dr. Farha is a sub-investigator at MUMH on this trial of a combination immunotherapy intended to prevent breast cancer recurrence.

Safety and Efficacy of the Xoft Axxent Electronic Brachytherapy Intraoperative Radiation Therapy System

Dr. Farha is the MUMH principal investigator on this trial of an intraoperative radiation therapy system.
