Karol Edwards, MHA, RN, NE-BC
Karol Edwards, MHA, RN, NE-BC, serves as vice president and chief nursing officer (CNO) for MedStar Medical Group (MMG) and MedStar Ambulatory Services (MAS), where she oversees clinical policies and procedures and overall clinical operation guidelines for MMG and MAS clinical associates. Prior to this role, Karol served as assistant vice president of System Nursing Operations for MedStar Health. In this role, she provided support and leadership to nurse leaders and associates throughout the system and, worked closely with the MedStar Health hospital executive teams to develop and monitor patient care programs, nursing care policies, procedures, and clinical practice guidelines.
With 25 years of experience in emergency department nursing operations and leadership, Karol joined MedStar Health in 2014 to serve as the director of emergency services at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital. In 2015, she transitioned to the role of regional administrator for MAS, where she assisted in the development, operation, and/or management of nine MedStar Ambulatory Care Centers. She then became the inaugural CNO for MAS, where she oversaw the development, implementation, and clinical management of ambulatory nursing for MedStar Health.
Karol holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bob Jones University and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Bellevue University. She is also a board-certified nurse executive.
