Our outpatient MedStar Washington Hospital Center Cardiac Rehabilitation program located in the Gymnasium at Trinity Washington University, 125 Michigan Ave. NE, helps treat patients who have been diagnosed with heart disease (heart attack, angina, or coronary heart disease) or have had a bypass graft surgery, angioplasty, TAVR or LVAD.
Our rehabilitation team is specialized in cardiac care and aim to increase a patient aerobic exercise ability and help control or limit other heart disease risk factors such as stress, blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, and cholesterol levels.

Our services
Our program offers Phase II and Phase III Outpatient Cardiac Rehab services. Phase II Cardiac Rehab offers a program consisting of THREE one-hour exercise classes for 12 – 14 weeks, with a maximum number of 36 classes. Patient progress is monitored and guided by our clinicians with the goal of safely progressing the patients exercise tolerance and improving their understanding of their tolerance to exercise. Our program also assists the patient in making improved lifestyle choices related to nutrition, smoking, and wellbeing.
On completion of the Phase II program, patients can participate for a limited time in the Phase III program, where use of equipment for exercise is available, for the patient that has achieved a greater level of independence at managing their own exercise tolerance / activity.
