About me
Alexander S. Andrews, MD, is an attending physician in MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s Division of Pediatric Neurology. Dr. Andrews’ area of clinical interests includes refractory epilepsy, quantitative EEG methods, general child neurology, and health equity. He sees pediatric patients in the hospital and clinic, and he treats both children and adults who are admitted to the inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
Dr. Andrews believes in a multifaceted approach to treating epilepsy. He believes in the power of psychological support for patients living with epilepsy and for their families. When it feels as though personal freedom and social connectedness are taken away by the fear of having a seizure, it is critical to regain a positive self-image and goal-driven outlook. He has an interest in helping people who suffer from psychogenic non-epileptic seizures as well.
Dr. Andrews has long been involved in community health. He has volunteered for reputable causes such as Community for Children, a border medicine elective in Texas, and assisted in the creation of the Student Run Free Clinic at the University of Michigan.
He has earned his medical Spanish interpreter certification.
Dr. Andrews’ credentials include:
- Certification: American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology (2019)
- Certification: American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Epilepsy (2020)
