Sankhya Amaravadi, DO Sankhya is currently a PGY3 resident at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She did her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she studied psychology and anthropology and earned the Eugertha Bates Memorial Award, which honors students for exceptional, selfless volunteer service and humanitarian impact. She also spent a year working in Americorps for a project helping underserved students find their voices via creative writing. While in medical school at A.T. Still University of Health Sciences Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, she served as President the school’s Alpha Phi Omega chapter and led a team dedicated to community service, leadership, and fellowship with Alpha Phi Omega winning Student Organization of the Year during her presidency. At Northeast Georgia Medical Center, she leads the Residency Events subcommittee and is a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee while continuing to volunteer for the local Boys and Girls Club and the HHCP Youth-Med Physician Mentorship program that helps students age 13-20 explore STEM careers. She has strong interests in community mental health, psychodynamic psychotherapy, gender-affirming care, transition-age youth, serving underserved communities, and health equity.
