Leanna Rucker, MD

I was born and raised in sunny Southern California, then later moved to New Orleans where I graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana, the nation’s only Catholic and historically black university. During undergrad, I studied Biology with a research interest in CRISPR gene editing. For my medical training, I moved to Washington, DC to attend Georgetown University School of Medicine. I was thrilled to continue at Georgetown for Internal Medicine residency and am currently serving as an inpatient chief resident at the DC VA Medical Center. I plan to pursue a career in the field of Gastroenterology/Hepatology with specific interests in advanced liver disease, clinician education, and social medicine. When I’m not at work, you can find me doing yoga or pilates, pet sitting, or shopping for tropical plants.
