Fred Butler Jr., is the CEO of CIVDEF Group Inc., a trusted partner, enabling transformation and delivering value to the federal government and all constituents served.
Over an exciting career spanning more than 23 years, Mr. Butler was a member of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Public Health Service, and a federal civil servant. Having managed more than $1B in federal contracts and grants, he was a key architect and leader in the development and execution of some of the most successful U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) national programs. Key to these programs exceeding national goals was developing and managing collaborative teams and networks of partner faculty, advisors, and grantees/contractors focused on quality, continuously measuring improvement, and delivering large-scale change. Mr. Butler received the Hubert H. Humphrey Award for Service to America in recognition of his outstanding achievements that contributed to the improvement of the health and quality of the nation and received the Secretary’s Distinguished Service Award for Execution of Major Projects.
Mr. Butler held critical leadership roles, including Vice President of Health, Director of Clinical Health and Quality, and most recently Senior Director for Industry Strategy & Solutions at various healthcare consulting and SaaS companies. As a thought leader and industry expert, Mr. Butler has served in an international advisory capacity to health systems and as a speaker in U.S. and international conferences.
