Vice President, Research Administration

Mary Anne Hinkson is the vice president of research administration at MedStar Health Research Institute. Mary Anne oversees the development and implementation of research operations across the comprehensive research networks. Through the management of the Office of Research Integrity, which encompasses the Institutional Review Board (IRB) operations, oversees the processes and systems that ensure responsible conduct of human subjects research. Additionally, Mary Anne leads strategic relationships with affiliates and other external clinical research partners to develop innovative approaches to clinical trial execution, subject recruitment, trial monitoring, and decentralized clinical trials.

Prior to joining MedStar Health Research Institute, Mary Anne gained extensive experience in clinical research through appointments at both pharmaceutical and medical device companies where she ran large global clinical trials. She worked closely with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). Prior to research, Mary Anne was a cardiovascular technologist and worked closely with physicians to assist with therapeutic interventions and perform diagnostic procedures.

Mary Anne received her undergraduate degree in health care administration and earned her Master of Business Administration at George Washington University. She also received her cardiovascular technologist certification.
