The MedStar Union Memorial Hospital Department of Medicine Observership Program offers a 4-week, 8-week and 12-week rotation on the academic hospital medicine teams. This is a US exposure of our healthcare system and an experience to be part of the rotation.
Step 1. To apply for an observership position, please send your CV to observerships@medstar.net.
Step 2. If accepted into the program, you will receive an acceptance letter from the program along with a link to complete an application and submit the application fee online. The application fee is $250 and is nonrefundable. Observership positions are reserved once the application fee has been received.
Step 3. The program will send you an email confirming rotation dates along with a link to complete the Observership Program Registration form and online payment. Required paperwork will also be attached to complete and return to observerships@medstar.net. The fee for each week of service is $250 and the minimum rotation duration is 4 weeks/total $1000.00. Please submit rotation fee no later than one month prior to your start date. If payment is not received on time, you can lose your spot or have your rotation pushed to a later date.
Observership rotations will not assure an interview in our internal medicine residency program or review of your application, but will offer you the opportunity to gain experience that will help your career path.
