MedSTAR Transport’s state-of-the-art Communications Center handles every patient need with just one call. Regardless of the situation, it expedites the referral, locates an admitting physician, and coordinates the transport to an appropriate facility.
Its facility incorporates Global Positioning System (GPS) flight tracking, a real-time video link to MedStar Washington Hospital Center's helipad, eight workstations, four radio frequencies, and nearly 30 phone lines. The communications center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with paramedics and communications specialists.
