About me
Rabi Lee, MSN, AGACNP-BC, is a highly experienced nurse practitioner (NP) in gastroenterology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where she sees patients for various gastroenterological conditions, such as gastrointestinal bleeds, abdominal pain, motility disorders, esophageal issues, and cholecystitis with biliary issues. She is a professional member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
As a nurse practitioner, Rabi usually works collaboratively with the entire GI team. She evaluates patients using various diagnostic techniques, such as lab work, CAT scans, and ultrasounds, to formulate a treatment plan and prescribe medications or recommend procedures if necessary. She interprets the latest technologies, such as video capsule endoscopy (a tiny camera that the patient swallows), to achieve the most precise diagnoses in the small intestine.
Rabi has a particular clinical interest in biliary and pancreatic disorders. She also diagnoses potential malignancies that could indicate pancreatic or gastrointestinal cancer. Since many of her patients present with underlying cardiac issues, she has particular expertise in addressing these complex profiles.
Drawn to medicine out of a desire to help people, Rabi is a passionate advocate of health equity and health literacy and always takes the time to listen to patients’ concerns and communicate crucial aspects of gastroenterological health, such as the importance of follow-ups, diet, and preemptive screening.
Rabi's journey in healthcare began with her service as a medic in the Maryland Army National Guard. She then pursued a career in nursing, earning an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Marymount University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Science in Nursing at Drexel University.
Rabi completed her fellowship training at institutions such as the University of Maryland Medical Centers, Mary Washington Hospital, and Washington Adventist Hospital. Before transitioning into her NP role, she held positions in Medical-Surgical and Trauma ICUs at Virginia Hospital Center and INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Now, she brings her wealth of experience to serve her community at MedStar Washington Hospital Center DC.
Outside the clinic, Rabi enjoys spending time with her family, her two dogs, and saltwater fish aquarium. She also loves to travel, especially to the Caribbean, Central America, and Africa.
Philosophy of Care
“I believe in empowering patients to become advocates for their health, taking the time to get to know the patient as a person, and helping them understand the reasons behind their treatment plan.
“Whether that involves lifestyle changes or procedure recommendations, my priority is my patients’ needs and well-being. I involve them in decision-making and try to ensure that every patient who sees me feels comfortable, informed, and confident about what they need to do to live a healthy, high-quality life.”
