The young fans spent quality time with players and coaches ahead of the 2025 season.
OWINGS MILLS, Md. — As the Baltimore Ravens are hard at work preparing for the 2025 season, the team recently made room in the nest for four MedStar Health pediatric patients and their families at training camp.
The young Ravens fans were treated to meet-and-greets, autographs, high fives, and hugs from team members like Head Coach John Harbaugh, running back Derrick Henry, linebacker Roquan Smith, and wide receiver Zay Flowers at the Under Amour Performance Center. Flowers happens to be the personal favorite of patient Sunny Rose Thornton, a four-year-old girl who has been battling leukemia since her diagnosis in March 2025.
“We want to thank the Ravens and MedStar Health for this opportunity,” said Katie Smith, Sunny’s mom. “Sunny had a blast and was able to give her favorite Raven one of her Sunny Shines t-shirts! What an amazing experience and opportunity for our family to do together!”
To inspire her Ravens, Sunny also brought a handmade sign that said, “If I can take on and beat cancer, you can take on and win the Super Bowl!”
“The careful planning and consideration that goes into creating these unforgettable moments for our pediatric patients working to overcome very serious diseases is well worth it,” said Katie Wallace, Child Life Supervisor at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. “Alongside great partners like the Ravens, we can truly make a difference during stressful times for these families.”
The Ravens and MedStar Health recently announced a 10-year extension of their long-standing partnership that began in 2004. As the team’s trusted medical provider for more than 20 years, MedStar Health will continue delivering world-class care to Ravens players, employees, and fans.
