About me

Allison Glubiak, CNM (she/her) is a certified nurse midwife and serves as Director of Advanced Practice Providers for the Women’s and Infants’ Services Department at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Allison is delighted to be a part of a team of midwives dedicated to offering full-scope, high-quality, high-touch care. Research shows that having a midwife as part of the care team improves outcomes and enhances the experience of pregnancy and childbirth.

Allison’s practice employs a holistic approach, focusing on both the emotional and physical health of the person. Education is also a large part of Allison’s practice. She aims to create an open environment for clients and their families, where they have the ability to ask questions and have honest discussions. This creates a safe place for communication and helps people feel more empowered throughout the decision-making process.

Allison received her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, majoring in Economics with a minor in Psychology. She received her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from Columbia University. She began her work as a midwife in Queens, New York before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area for a few years to continue her practice. Originally from Virginia, she is grateful to have returned to the area and to have found her home with the Midwives of MedStar in 2018.

I hope everyone has the opportunity to have a provider like Allison. It was my first visit for a new pregnancy after a challenging loss last year and she went above and with her care and compassion. Truly wonderful experience.
