About me
Amber Wells is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) specializing in Gastroenterology at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. With a deep commitment to patient care and education, Wells brings both experience and passion to her role.
Wells began her nursing career in 2014 as an Emergency Department trauma nurse, where she developed strong clinical skills. Her experiences in the fast-paced emergency setting equipped her with the knowledge and resilience needed to handle complex medical situations. Motivated by a desire to provide more comprehensive care, she pursued an advanced degree and earned her Nurse Practitioner credentials in 2021.
In 2023, Wells transitioned into the field of Gastroenterology at MedStar Southern Maryland. She is particularly focused on the gut-brain connection and its impact on overall well-being. Wells enjoys working in the GI field because she understands the critical role the digestive system plays in both physical and mental health. She is passionate about educating her patients on how the brain and gut are connected, which can impact mood, cognition, and even immune function.
Wells is known for her compassionate approach and dedication to addressing patients' symptoms and conditions. She strives to enhance their overall health by providing treatments and care plans tailored to each individual's needs. Her goal is not only to treat symptoms but also to provide care that improves her patients' long-term well-being.
Wells values her credentials from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), an organization who upholds the commitment to excellence in nursing.
