About me
Brenda Baffour, CNM, WHNP-BC, is a faculty midwife in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She provides full-scope midwifery care to healthy women during pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum as well as gynecological and primary care.
Prior to joining the Hospital Center, Ms. Baffour worked as a registered nurse on the labor and delivery unit at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut. Ms. Baffour has also worked as an undergraduate clinical instructor at Chamberlain College of Nursing in Arlington, Virginia.
Training, Education and Research
Ms. Baffour received her bachelor's degree in public health from Temple University and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Binghamton University. Ms. Baffour completed her graduate education in midwifery and women's health nurse practitioner at Georgetown University. She is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and the National Certification Corporation.
Ms. Baffour's research interests include teen pregnancy, maternal and child health disparities, family planning, and health education and promotion for underserved populations.
Practice Focus
Ms. Baffour's goal in practice is to provide women and their families with the resources and education they need to be highly involved with their care, make informed decisions, and experience the most positive health outcomes.
Ms. Baffour lives in Washington, D.C. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
