Cameron Mohammadi, MD, is a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology. He specializes in caring for patients with immune-related conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord, including multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein-associated disease (MOGAD), transverse myelitis, optic neuritis, and autoimmune encephalitis. He also evaluates symptoms such as weakness, numbness, tingling, blurred vision, headaches, balance problems, and changes in walking. Because many neurologic conditions can cause similar symptoms, his broad expertise helps him clarify the diagnosis and recommend personalized treatment.

That careful evaluation begins before the first visit, as Dr. Mohammadi reviews available medical records and test results. During the appointment, he builds on that review by inviting patients to describe their symptoms in their own words—when they began, how they have progressed, and how they affect movement, sensation, vision, or daily activities. He then combines this history with a thorough neurologic examination to guide the next steps in care. Based on those findings, he may recommend further testing and/or discuss advanced treatments, including immunotherapy and infusion therapies for autoimmune neurologic conditions.

As an assistant professor of neurology and director of the neurology clerkship at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Mohammadi trains medical students, residents, and neuroimmunology fellows. This work keeps him current with advances in the field and sharpens his approach to complex cases. He brings that perspective to patient care, grounding his recommendations in current, evidence-based medicine.

Research & Scholarship

His research interests focus on clinical trials and other studies of multiple sclerosis and autoimmune neurologic conditions, including autoimmune encephalitis, an inflammatory brain disorder related to the immune system. His broader scholarship spans peer-reviewed research on electroencephalogram (EEG) findings in autoimmune epilepsy, along with abstracts and presentations examining the varied symptoms of these conditions and how they affect cognition.
