Kara Lowinger has a background in providing psychotherapy with individuals, families and groups in schools, in medical settings, private practice and outpatient behavioral health and psychiatric clinics. She provides psychotherapy on a broad range of issues and utilizes an eclectic approach to develop an individualized approach to treating each patient. Themes often focus on depression, anxiety, work/school stress, relationships, self-esteem, family conflict, separation/divorce, life transitions, cross-cultural adjustment, post traumatic stress, chronic pain, and medical illnesses. At MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's Outpatient Psychiatric clinic, Ms. Lowinger provides one time diagnostic assessments, short term psychotherapy and group psychotherapy. She is bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
