About me
Kelley Richardson, CNM is a Certified Nurse Midwife at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She is part of a team that provides full-scope midwifery care, including well-woman care, contraceptive counseling, preconception family planning, prenatal care, labor and birth support, and postpartum care. She is proud to be a part of a team that is working to reduce disparities and improve outcomes for the birthing people of DC. Kelley is passionate about providing holistic and trauma-informed care that focuses on the emotional and physical safety and health of her clients.
Kelley received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at George Washington University. She then worked as a Labor & Delivery nurse at Washington Hospital Center for six years before joining the midwifery team. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University.
Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Kelley now lives in Arlington with her husband, Michael, and two children, Jack and Jules. Both kids were caught by midwives on this team!
Philosophy of Care:
“It might sound cliché, but I believe wholeheartedly that midwives are going to change the world! With a focus on the whole person, we take time to get to know you and your family to ensure that we are providing care that is specifically tailored to you and your needs. I believe in empowering you to make the best decisions for yourself and your family based on all the available information and supporting you in that decision-making process.
“As a parent myself, I recognize that each person we care for is trusting us during some of the most intimate and vulnerable moments of their lives. It is an honor to be invited into your story and I treat that with the utmost respect. I also recognize that each story is different and there are many factors that influence your experience. I aim to support you and walk with you during all the highs and lows of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and what comes before and after, too. Many people come to us with fears or past traumas that influence the care we provide. My goal is to provide you with a space that feels emotionally and physically safe when receiving prenatal, postpartum, and gynecologic healthcare.”
