Lediya Cheru, MD, is board-certified in internal medicine as well as in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. She completed her medical education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, followed by an internship and residency at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Cheru then pursued fellowship training in endocrinology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. After completing her fellowship, she joined the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine as an assistant professor of medicine. Later, she transitioned to MedStar Health Endocrinology to focus more on her clinical work while being closer to her family.

Dr. Cheru has extensive experience managing patients with thyroid disorders, including Graves' disease, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and thyroid nodules. She also specializes in metabolic disorders, such as obesity, hyperlipidemia, prediabetes, and diabetes. Her additional areas of expertise include adrenal insufficiency, adrenal tumors, and pituitary disorders. Furthermore, Dr. Cheru addresses reproductive disorders, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), premature ovarian insufficiency, menopause, hypogonadism, and Klinefelter syndrome.

    This was my first visit with Dr. Cheru. I waited a bit to see her but when she was with me, she answered all my questions and had questions of her own. I left this visit feeling dry pleased.
