Patrick Gibson Maiberger, MD, FACS, FAAOA is a board-certified otolaryngologist at MedStar Health: Otolaryngology at Lafayette Centre who specializes in a wide range of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) concerns for adults. He treats conditions ranging from allergy and sinus problems to ear infections, throat issues, swallowing difficulty, and lumps or swelling in the head and neck. His approach focuses on connecting symptoms to their source to guide patients toward treatment that can reduce discomfort and improve everyday activities.

Dr. Maiberger asks focused questions, performs a careful evaluation and recommends the option that best fits the diagnosis and the patient’s needs. Many conditions can be managed in the office, while others are more effectively addressed with procedures he performs, including sinus and nasal surgery, tonsil and adenoid removal, ear tubes, endoscopy of the nose and throat, salivary gland procedures, and treatment of head and neck masses.

Education & Training

Dr. Maiberger’s training reflects years of focused preparation in both the medical and surgical treatment of ear, nose, and throat conditions. He has been named a Top Doctor by Northern Virginia Magazine and Washingtonian.

He earned his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia where he served as chief resident. He is also board certified in otolaryngology and a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and of the American College of Surgeons. This clinical foundation is reinforced by Dr. Maiberger’s research at the National Institutes of Health and by his publications and presentations on cochlear implantation, head and neck conditions, and patient safety. The doctor has spent years studying complex health issues, weighing evidence-based options, and applying precision in ways that that can meaningfully improve outcomes and overall well-being.
