About me
Ripple Mehta, MD, joins MedStar Health as a board-certified gastroenterologist. His clinical practice encompasses diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD), endoscopic interventions and polypectomy, capsule endoscopy, and evaluation of esophageal motility and reflux disorders.
Dr. Mehta provides specialized care for conditions such as Barrett’s esophagus, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome, liver disease, and colorectal cancer prevention. His emphasis is on preventive strategies, microbiome health, and lifestyle-based interventions, which are integral to sustaining digestive wellness.
Through professional development, clinical research, and multidisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in nutrition, primary care, surgery, and oncology, Dr. Mehta provides comprehensive, innovative, and individualized gastrointestinal care.
Dr. Mehta completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, Maryland. He did his residency in Internal Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and earned his medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine in Caribbean Netherlands.
Dr. Mehta believes the most effective care is built on open communication, patient education, and shared decision-making. By empowering patients with knowledge and involving them in their treatment plans, he aims to create a collaborative partnership that supports both short- and long-term health goals.
Dr. Mehta sees patients at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital and MedStar Health at Brandywine.
