About me
Stuart Gould, MD, is a board-certified general cardiologist with MedStar Cardiology Associates at MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute. He is also Physician Safety Officer and currently sits on the Credentialing Committee at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center.
Dr. Gould sees patients for all cardiac diseases, including coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, orthostatic hypotension, and neurocardiogenic syncope, among others. His sub-specialties focus on cardiac imaging, including nuclear stress tests, echocardiography, and vascular testing. He performs diagnostic and treatment procedures such as transesophageal echocardiograms and cardioversions.
Dr. Gould places emphasis on the prevention of cardiovascular disease. His clinical interests involve helping people prevent cardiovascular disease by treating risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stress, and anxiety, in addition to promoting exercise and healthy eating. He is also passionate about helping people who have neurocardiogenic syncope to prevent fainting spells.
He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Michigan. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Dr. Gould completed an internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he also served as Chief Resident.
Philosophy of Care
“I prioritize patient-centered care that focuses on the needs of my patients and their families by providing individualized diagnostic and therapeutic care for cardiovascular disease. This includes screening patients for cardiovascular disease and helping them treat and diagnose any cardiovascular risk factors that may predispose them to developing heart disease.”
“Being a family man with a wife and three children, I cherish the importance of including families in the process of care. I want to provide the best cardiovascular care available for my patients, making sure that they and their families understand the disease process as well as how we can effectively co-manage and co-treat it. I make sure that I am always available to address any issues and concerns that my patients or their family members have.”
“As a third generation Washingtonian, I have built a strong community of friends and family. I am proud to provide health care that improves the quality of life for my patients and their community. I like to contribute in other ways as well and am very active within the Olney community by volunteering with various organizations.
“I have an open-door policy with referring physicians and prioritize seeing referral patients in a timely manner.”
