Alyssa Kania, MD

Alyssa Kania, MD Alyssa is currently a PGY4 resident in our own adult psychiatry residency program here at Georgetown and "pre-Matched" with us back in June 2025. She earned her undergraduate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience at Northeastern University in Boston where she co-founded a peer mental health education program and served as President of their ActiveMinds chapter, which advocates for mental health awareness, and was awarded the President's Award, given to the top ten students in the class. She then attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine where she founded and served as President for the gUIde Mentorship Program, which connected UIC undergrads with UIC SOM mentors, and President of the PsychEd Psychiatry Interest Group. Here at Georgetown, she has been a Clinical Research Assistant in Dr. Hoge's Anxiety Disorders Research Program, a Cura Personalis Communication Small Group Preceptor, and is now the MGUH Chief Resident. She has strong interests in community mental health, academic medicine, psychotherapy, and transition-age youth. Big welcome to Alyssa!
