Kei Sonoda, MD
Dr. Sonoda grew up in Tokyo, Japan, and earned his medical degree from Tokyo Medical and Dental University. He later moved to Hawaii to complete his Internal Medicine residency and Geriatric Medicine fellowship at the University of Hawaii, where he subsequently practiced as a hospitalist and geriatrician for over a decade. His clinical focus has been caring for patients with chronic debilitating illnesses and complex psychosocial challenges, often in underserved communities. Guided by a commitment to dignity-conserving and person-centered care, he aspires to expand access to high-quality palliative care and further integrate palliative principles into mainstream clinical practice. He enjoys reading and is passionate about Narrative Medicine, using the power of storytelling to foster deeper human connection.
