As vice president of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for MedStar Medical Group, Peter C. Ostasewski manages all financial functions, working closely with the senior management team to facilitate the development and achievement of operational, financial, and strategic objectives for MedStar Medical Group. He oversees financial performance, accounting and reporting, practice management economics, operating and capital budgeting, long-range financial forecasting, performance benchmarking, physician compensation model design and management, and pro forma development for practice acquisitions and strategic initiatives. Ostasewski has broad experience in hospital and physician operations that span a period over 30 years as a clinician, administrator, and senior-level health system executive.
Before joining MedStar Medical Group, Ostasewski served as system vice president of Operations Finance at UPMC Pinnacle with leadership responsibilities that included budgeting, financial and strategic forecasting, proformas, decision support, business intelligence, analytics, management reporting, and performance optimization for all aspects of the seven-hospital health system with 11,000 employees and more than 2,900 physicians and allied health professionals.
Prior to UPMC, Ostasewski held executive leadership roles in Finance at Tenet Healthcare Corporation, the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, and Nemours duPont Pediatrics.
A Maryland native, Ostasewski attended Calvert Hall College High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in business administration from Loyola University of Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management. Ostasewski is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars after serving with the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment as an Airborne Ranger qualified Special Operations Combat Medic. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Medical Group Management Association.
