Dr. Lozano is a Senior Investigator at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI), Senior Associate Medical Director for Research and Translation at Kaiser Permanente Washington and Adjunct Professor in Health Systems and Population Health at the University of Washington (UW) School of Public Health.
Dr. Lozano oversees embedded research in Kaiser Permanente Washington’s health system, serving as a bridge between research and clinical operations. In 2017, she co-founded, and now co-directs, the Center for Accelerating Care Transformation (ACT Center), an innovative model for continuous learning at the organizational level, accelerating care transformation by helping to integrate research evidence into practice.
Dr. Lozano is Co-Program Director for the Washington Learning Health System Embedded Scientist Training and Research (WA LHS E-STAR) Center, a partnership between research and primary care organizations to train the next generation of learning health system researchers.
After receiving her MD from Harvard Medical School and completing pediatric residency at the UW and Seattle Children’s Hospital, she was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar and earned her MPH in health services from UW. Dr. Lozano served on faculty at the University of Washington School of Medicine and practiced pediatrics for two decades at Harborview Medical Center and Seattle Children’s.
