Keith T. Shiner, JD, is Senior Hospital Counsel for MedStar Health. In this role, he has primary responsibility for all legal matters for MedStar Health Research Institute. He also has primary responsibility for all legal matters for MedStar Washington Hospital Center. At the MedStar Health system level, he supports the Physician Leadership Council; Chief Nursing Officer Council; drug diversion prevention; and quality and safety matters.
Before joining MedStar Health in 2013, he was senior counsel for Medical Staff and Patient Care with The Johns Hopkins Health System, and in private practice with regional and international law firms in Virginia. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Washington & Lee School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review, and his undergraduate degree from Duke University.
