Candice Vance, MBA, CHRC, is Assistant Vice President (AVP), Research Finance, Revenue Cycle, and Awards Management. In this role, Candice provides executive-level leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the full lifecycle of research financial management across MedStar Health Research Institute (MHRI). This role integrates enterprise research finance, sponsored awards administration, research revenue cycle operations, and research information systems to ensure financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, revenue integrity, and operational excellence. She partners closely with investigators, research leaders, and operational teams to ensure studies are financially sustainable, compliant with sponsor requirements, and positioned for long-term success.
Prior to joining MHRI leadership, Candice built extensive expertise in healthcare finance and revenue cycle operations, including patient accounting, insurance regulation, coding, and hospital revenue cycle management. In 2008, Candice started applying this experience to clinical research, expanding this knowledge into Uniform Guidance and grant management. Over the years, Candice has been invited to share her knowledge at many national conferences and serve as a subject matter expert on multiple workgroups for projects outside of MHRI. She continues to serve as a trusted advisor on research finance, revenue cycle, grants management, and regulatory compliance, helping shape best practices across the research enterprise.
Candice attended Towson University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and a Master of Business Administration. She holds a professional certification in healthcare research compliance from the Compliance Certification Board within the Health Care Compliance Association.
