Eileen Ferrell, MSN, BSN, RN, is senior vice president and chief nursing officer for MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. In this role, she provides strategic direction and leadership for operational departments that include Clinical Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Perioperative Oversight, and Pastoral Care. Ferrell is responsible for advancing organizational goals through participation with leaders in decision-making processes and structures. As CNO, she works closely and collaboratively with the senior nurse leadership team to ensure that nursing operations run smoothly and successfully.

Ferrell joined MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 1975, as a new graduate clinical nurse, followed by several years in the public health arena of nursing practice.

With more than 23 years of committed service to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Ferrell has been an integral leader in the Nursing department.

A highlight of Ferrell’s career is that under her leadership, MedStar Georgetown earned the Magnet® designation and has been designated four times as a Magnet organization.

Ferrell is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, American Organization of Nurse Executives, Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies Board of Advisors, and various community organizations.

Ferrell received her bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in health services administration from Georgetown University.
