Patricia Woon, MSN, RN, CV-BC
Patricia Woon is the Director of Nursing Professional Development. In this role, she is responsible for the professional development of associates within MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH) Department of Nursing including oversight of orientation and onboarding, the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program™ (NRP), nursing academic-practice partnerships, and continuing/ongoing education activities. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University, Woon was initially an early childhood educator. As a second-career nurse, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Florida Atlantic University, where she also received her Master of Science in Nursing Education. Woon joined MedStar Georgetown in 2013 and prior to her current role was the Clinical Educator for the Hepatology and Neuroscience/Stroke Intermediate Care units. Woon is a former Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing Scholar and MedStar Georgetown Nursing Education – Nurse of the Year recipient. She is Cardiac Vascular Nurse – Board Certified, an active member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the Association for Nursing Professional Development, and has served as adjunct faculty for local nursing academic programs.
