As senior vice president and chief digital transformation officer, John Lock helps MedStar Health navigate strategy, marketing, technology, and innovation to discover and implement better ways to deliver the highest quality care across our integrated delivery network. This includes implementation of patient engagement solutions, including our digital doorways, as well as responsibility for enterprise access. Prior to this role, Lock served as entrepreneur in residence and chief futurist at MedStar Institute for Innovation.
Lock has nearly 30 years of experience as a proven entrepreneur, investor and strategic operator. He successfully founded, managed and realized the value of a number of companies and has held leadership roles with organizations ranging in size from start-up to revenues of more than $2 billion.
Prior to joining MedStar Health, Lock served as the chairman of Kaplan’s New Business Initiatives Board, president and chief executive officer of Kaplan Performance Solutions (KPS) and market leader of Kaplan’s Global B2B efforts.
Lock graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service with a Bachelor of Science in foreign service. He also is a recipient of the Landegger Honors Certificate in International Business Diplomacy.
