LynnMarie Verzino, DNP

LynnMarie Verzino, DNP, is senior vice president and chief nursing officer for MedStar Health, serving as senior nursing administrator for a $7.7 billion not-for-profit, healthcare delivery system, spanning Maryland and Washington, D.C., region. In this role, she is responsible for systemwide oversight and leadership of professional nursing practice, standards of nursing care, nursing outcomes, nursing education, and nursing research. Her oversight includes operational execution and collaboration with Nursing Executive Team, Senior Managers, and physician and nurse leaders.

Previously, Verzino served as vice president and the inaugural associate chief nursing officer for MedStar Health, providing leadership of the acute care hospital nursing services, standards of care, workforce optimization, and operational excellence initiatives. She also led and participated in the implementation of Nursing strategic goals, efficient resource allocation, operating results, financial performance, capacity management and throughput, and evaluating and improving patient quality outcomes and a positive patient experience. 

Prior to these appointments, Verzino was the vice president and chief nursing officer for Perioperative Services, working closely and collaboratively with key Anesthesia and service line leaders to coordinate, support and provide leadership to all MedStar Health Perioperative Services.

Before joining MedStar Health, Verzino served as vice president, Perioperative Enterprise at Emory Healthcare, where she directed all aspects of strategic planning and clinical integration of 124 operating rooms for the academic medical and Magnet-designated delivery system. Her scope included seven hospitals and nine ambulatory surgery centers, as well as all aspects of PeriAnesthesia Services, Endoscopy and Ancillary Support Services within the Perioperative value stream.

Verzino has held senior leadership positions for more than 30 years, including system vice president, Perioperative Services for MemorialCare in California, and similar positions at health systems in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Her extensive experience includes nursing leadership, clinical practice, operational excellence, patient experience, quality, safety, and supply chain optimization. 

A lifelong learner, Verzino recently completed the Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Nurse Leadership (DNP-ENL) program at Baylor University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Healthcare Administration from Pfeiffer University and has a Nurse Executive Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). 

She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), American Organization of Nursing Leadership (AONL), Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN).
