Margaret Arnold, MD, FACS, is the director of the MedStar Health Baltimore surgical residency program and the director of the MedStar Health Vein Centers in Baltimore. She is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon who is board certified in both vascular surgery and general surgery.
Dr. Arnold is experienced in both endovascular and open surgery and in the medical management of vascular issues. She treats all forms of vascular disease including aortic disease and thoracic outlet syndrome, but primarily focuses her practice on treating venous disease such as varicose veins.
Her research focuses on medical and surgical training and education. A strong advocate for making wellness and lifestyle changes and modifications, she weaves this into her curriculum when teaching residents and counsels patients on this as well.
Dr. Arnold’s practice is patient-centered. She gets to know her patients on a personal level so that she can better understand their needs and goals. She involves her patients in the decision-making process so that they become more invested in their treatment plan. She has found this to be very successful as it contributes to a better quality of life for her patients.
Dr. Arnold is published widely, including book chapters and peer-reviewed articles and has spoken at regional and national vascular surgery conferences. She is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, Association of Women’s Surgeons, Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, and is a Fellow, American College of Surgeons.
