Sports Medicine Specialist
B. Elizabeth Delasobera, MD is the Chief Medical Officer for MedStar Ambulatory Services. She is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Primary Care Sports Medicine and practices Primary Care Sports Medicine at MedStar's Lafayette Centre in Washington, DC.
Dr. Delasobera has been a key participant in the development of standardized protocols and guidelines for the MedStar Health Sports Medicine Concussion Program to ensure uniformity across the system. Her clinical interests are also stress fractures, exertional leg pain, ultrasound guided injections, and other non-operative sports injuries and therapeutics. In addition, Dr Delasobera started the primary care sports medicine fellowship for Georgetown and she serves on Georgetown University's medical school faculty.
Dr. Delasobera is a native of McLean, Virginia and attended The Potomac School, where she was elected as captain of the tennis and basketball teams. She completed her undergraduate degree at Yale University, again in the role of captain of the tennis team, and received her medical degree from Stanford University in 2008. Dr. Delasobera completed her residency in emergency medicine at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's combined program in 2011. She completed her Sports Medicine Fellowship in 2012 from Virginia Commonwealth University.
She is the lead primary care team physician for the Washington Capitals (NHL) and has also worked with Marymount University, Catholic University and other pro, college, and club teams in the area. She has been named Top Doctors by Northern Virginia Magazine and Washingtonian many years in a row.
