About me
Jon Koman, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained in sports medicine. A native of Baltimore, his career spans more than twenty years. Dr. Koman sees patients in Reisterstown and is now affiliated with MedStar Union Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Koman’s expertise is in the field of arthroscopic surgery, including multiple ligament reconstructions of the knee and labral and rotator cuff repairs of the shoulder. He also performs patient-specific minimally invasive knee replacement, shoulder replacement, and reverse shoulder replacement.
With so many treatment options available from the common to complex, Dr. Koman’s philosophy is to try non-surgical measures first. He takes pride in listening to his patients, translating their “MRI report to English,” and making sure all their questions are answered.
Dr. Koman is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the McCue Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Society. He has co-authored research papers for several prestigious medical journals, including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and he co-wrote a chapter review for the second edition of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine: Principles and Practice.
