About me
Dr. Harper is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacements of the hip and knee. Her expertise spans the full spectrum of care for joint replacements, including:
- Osteoarthritis of the hip and knee
- Hip and knee pain
- Simple primary hip and knee replacements
- Same day surgery and early recovery hip and knee surgery
- Complex revisions
- Multiple revised joints
- Fractures and infections that occur around a replacement hip or knee joint
She has special expertise in the management of hip abductor muscle injuries in patients with and without hip replacements, having assisted in developing surgical techniques and the classification of this injury.
She takes the time to thoroughly discuss treatment options, surgical approach, and post-operative recovery so each patient is optimized for success. When making medical decisions, Dr. Harper serves as a guide for her patients and allows them to ask any questions they may have to feel comfortable with their decision. She takes pride in being available for her patients whenever an issue or question may arise.
Dr. Harper earned her medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland and completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. She completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Houston Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Harper is an active researcher who has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, written book chapters, and presented at national conferences. Her areas of research involve novel and innovative ways to treat infections, developing new surgical techniques to manage soft tissue complications of the hip and knee, and improving outcomes of joint replacements. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
A former collegiate hockey player, when she’s not working Dr. Harper likes to stay in shape by hiking and cycling with her husband and young son. She also enjoys carpentry and has completed several custom cutting boards by applying some of the same skills she uses in the operating room to create beautiful works of art.
