About me
Michael Lee, MD, is a non-invasive cardiologist at MedStar Health at Lafayette Centre and MedStar Health at McLean. Dr. Lee is board certified in cardiovascular diseases and treats cardiac conditions such as coronary heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, and valvular disease.
Dr. Lee focuses primarily on treating and managing heart disease by interpreting cardiac studies (e.g., echocardiograms and various stress test modalities) and non-invasive vascular studies (e.g., carotid duplex scans, aortic duplex imaging, ABI’s, renal artery duplex scans, lower extremity arterial and venous duplex studies). Once he has thoroughly investigated his patient’s symptoms, he then collaborates with them to develop a health care plan that aligns with their lifestyle and health goals.
Dr. Lee believes that early detection of heart disease and atherosclerosis is vital to improving overall outcomes. To this end, Dr. Lee actively promotes early screening and heart health education.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT). Dr. Lee has been chosen by his peers as one of Washington D.C.’s best doctors every year since 2019. His name appears on the Washingtonian’s Top Doctors list.
Dr. Lee received his medical degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. He completed his residency and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital, where he received training on non-invasive vascular imaging.
Dr. Lee is happily married with four kids. When he is not practicing medicine, he is at home helping his children do their homework, or participating in the myriad of activities his children are involved in.
Philosophy of care
“I believe in listening to patients and thoroughly investigating their symptoms before developing a treatment plan that is appropriate for them and their lives. Patients and physicians should be on the same team, working together to improve the patient’s health. Everyone is different; not everybody is interested in pursuing the same pathways in regard to diagnosis, treatment, or medications. That is why I believe in working with patients to come up with a treatment plan that aligns to their philosophies and their health goals.”
