About me

Mohit Gupta, MD, is a urologic oncologist and the Director of Clinical Research for the Department of Urology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Gupta’s expertise stems from years of specialized surgical experience in both complex open and minimally-invasive surgery for patients with cancers of the kidney, bladder, prostate, adrenals, and testes. He is a central member of an interdisciplinary team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and other cancer specialists who are committed to providing collaborative and personalized care to every patient.

With numerous professional and academic accolades to his name, Dr. Gupta has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles, including multiple publications that have helped shape official guidelines published by the American Urologic Association (AUA). His research has been published in prestigious journals, including the Journal of Urology and European Urology. He is an active member of the AUA, European Association of Urology, and Society of Urologic Oncology. He is also a frequent and highly-sought presenter at national conferences and academic meetings.

Dr. Gupta, who is certified by the American Board of Urology, earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed both his internship and residency training in urology at the University of Florida. He further specialized his clinical skillset during a fellowship in urologic oncology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Philosophy of Care

Peers and patients regard Dr. Gupta as a highly-detailed, compassionate physician. “As a urologic oncologist, my job is to help guide patients through the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of their urologic cancers. These include cancers of the kidney, bladder, prostate, adrenal glands, and testes.”

“Each patient’s cancer is unique, and a result, each patient’s treatment plan needs to be individually tailored, taking into account their quality of life and personal preferences. My role is to serve as partner during what can be one of the most difficult times in a patient’s life; by working together, we can determine the best treatment options to pursue for each patient.”

“As a surgeon, I specialize in open, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches to surgery for urologic cancers. My priority is to ensure that every step of the treatment process – from our initial clinic visit to the surgery – is performed safely and effectively.”
