Dr. Ammad is a transplant fellowship-trained nephrologist who cares for patients with end-stage renal disease, manages kidney disease pre- and post-transplant, performs pre-transplant evaluations, and manages post-transplant immunosuppression. She also treats patients with chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injuries, autoimmune disorders that affect kidney function, and manages patients on dialysis.

She is a member of the National Kidney Foundation, American Society of Transplantation, American Society of Nephrology, and American College of Physicians. Her philosophy of care centers on empowering patients through education and shared decision making. She believes it’s essential for patients to understand all their options and she discusses available resources and the potential risks and benefits with each patient before they pursue transplantation. Her goal is to ensure patients feel fully informed, supported, and prepared to take an active role in optimizing their overall health.

Dr. Ammad earned her medical degree at the Medical University of the Americas - St. Kitts and Nevis. She completed her residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Medical Education – UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh, as well as two fellowships—one in nephrology at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. and one in transplant nephrology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

She is fluent in English and Urdu.

When she’s not working, Dr. Ammad enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, barre classes, and spending time with her young son and cats.
