About me
Sonika Puri, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained transplant nephrologist with more than 10 years’ experience in the field. She specializes in pre- and post-operative management for people undergoing kidney and pancreas transplantation, as well as the evaluation of living kidney donors.
Dr. Puri joins the team as the medical director of the Living Donor Kidney Program. She is passionate about improving access to life-saving living donation for patients with end stage renal disease.
Dr. Puri is an active researcher and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals on improving outcomes in kidney and pancreas transplantation, improving access to kidney donation and transplantation, and organ preservation. She is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, Lipid Association of India, and a Fellow of American Society of Nephrology. She earned her medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College at Delhi University in New Delhi, India and completed her internship and residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. She also completed two fellowships—one in nephrology at NYU Langone Medical Center and NYU School of Medicine in New York and one in transplant nephrology at University of California in San Francisco.
Dr. Puri works with each patient to help them achieve the best possible outcome from kidney and pancreas transplantation. In addition to always taking the time to listen to her patients, address their concerns, and educate them about their condition and treatment options, she also helps patients seek living kidney donors.
Dr. Puri is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
When she’s not working, Dr. Puri enjoys reading, hiking with her family, and baking.
