About me
Zhifei Sun, MD, is a Colon and Rectal Surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Medical Center.
Dr. Sun completed his surgical training at Duke University Medical Center and is fellowship trained in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Washington University in Saint Louis. Dr. Sun specializes in the minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of colon and rectal diseases, including surgeries for diverticular disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, and colorectal cancers.
Academically, Dr. Sun is interested in surgical innovation, with a special interest in applied machine learning as a means of improving surgical outcomes. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and presents frequently at national meetings.
With his patients, Dr. Sun strongly believes in clear, honest, and open communication. He always makes himself available and accessible to those in need and sees himself as a "quarterback" for his patients.
