Welcome to endocrinology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center Physician Office Building North
The Department of Endocrinology offers expert consultative services to patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders. We approach our patients in a holistic manner and individualize care based on patient need. We handle complex thyroid/ thyroid cancer patients, osteoporosis, patients with diabetes, pituitary disorders, and adrenal dysfunction to name a few. We are well versed in the management of insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. Featured program: Diabetes Bootcamp
Our Bootcamp is a 12-week program for patients with type 2 diabetes and an A1C of 9% or higher. It starts with an initial intensive one-on-one review of your diet, activity, and self-care habits, followed by education and weekly virtual visits with a diabetes nurse practitioner who helps design a personalized diabetes plan that focuses on lifestyle interventions and medical therapy that you can follow long term. It will help you understand your condition, and help you feel better and improve your health. On average, participants lower their A1C by 3%, which translates to an average glucose drop of about 90 mg/dL over 3 months.
