Welcome to our physical therapy & hand center at Irving Street

Our newly designed hand center is located in the same office as the MedStar Orthopaedic Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Whether you have a traumatic acute injury or need care before and after surgery, you can count on our hand therapists and specialists to work together to tailor a treatment plan that works for you.

Visiting Physical Therapy at Irving Street–Hand Center

Hours of operation:

Monday: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Thursday: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Friday: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Our providers

  • Carly Bland, MS, OTR/L, CHT, Clinic Director

    Carly Bland attended Stony Brook University where she received a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Carly then completed a master's degree in occupational therapy at Thomas Jefferson University. Carly earned her hand therapist certification (CHT) in 2019. She specializes in the following areas:

    • Overuse Injuries and Tendinopathies (tennis elbow, golfer's elbow and DeQuervain's tenosynovitis)

    • Post-Fracture Management

    • Splinting and Custom Orthosis Fabrication

    • Tendon and Nerve Injuries and Repairs

  • Katie Huppi, MS, OTR/L, CHT

    Katie attended Tulane University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in psychology. Katie then completed her master's degree in occupational therapy from Rush University. Katie is pursuing her certification in hand therapy and specializes in the following:

    • Overuse Injuries and tendinopathies (tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, and DeQuervain's tenosynovitis)

    • Post-Fracture Management

    • Splinting and Custom Orthosis Fabrication

    • Tendon and Nerve Injuries and Repairs

  • Erin Kelly, MS, OTR/L, CHT

    Erin Kelly attended the University of Delaware, where she received her bachelor’s degree in health science. She completed her master’s degree in occupational therapy at Thomas Jefferson University. Erin earned her certification as a hand therapist (CHT) in November 2020 and specializes in the following: 

    • Overuse Injuries and Tendinopathies (tennis elbow, golfer's elbow and DeQuervain's tenosynovitis)

    • Post-Fracture Management

    • Splinting and Custom Orthosis Fabrication

    • Tendon and Nerve Injuries and Repairs

  • Sarah Matthews, MS, OTR/L

    Sarah attended the University of Virginia, where she received her bachelor’s degree in English and African American Studies. She then completed her master's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Puget Sound.
