Wellness for You

We recognize how important it is for you to take care of yourself, even as you are busy taking care of others. Through this initiative, MedStar providers and associates can establish contact with a mental health clinician within 1 business day of the initial call. The mental health clinician will identify the issues and either provide individual support immediately, or, if deemed helpful, will refer the associate to a mental health provider within Georgetown Psychiatry. Providers with expertise in adult, child, adolescent and family mental health are available.

To set up an appointment, call 202-944-5400 and choose option 2. We will ensure that we get in touch within 1 business day.

Wellness at Work

Sometimes, there is so much information out there that it is easy to miss some of the resources you need the most. On Wellness Rounds we bring the resources to you. Wellness teams conduct in-person rounding to check-in on associates, to provide information about resources, to help with wellbeing and self-care, and to provide immediate support, if needed. The teams round periodically and can also be requested to visit specific units.

If you’d like to request a Wellness Rounds for your group or on your unit, let us know! Email: [email protected]
We know that your job is incredibly stressful and sometimes you need a break or a healthy snack on the go. We are setting up Recharge Stations around your hospital to serve as a place for you to recharge and find out more about the wellbeing resource available to you and your families.
When and where possible, associates will be redeployed across the system to assist with other roles appropriate to their level of expertise, training, licensing and credentials, and certifications. These unique circumstances will be managed by entity operational and Human Resources (HR) leaders, in partnership with associates and their supervisors.
All benefits-eligible associates may use advanced PTO.
  • Full-time associates may use up to 120 hours of Advanced PTO
  • Part-time benefits-eligible associates may use up to 60 hours of Advanced PTO
  • Advanced PTO hours become available if an associate fully depletes existing paid time balances
  • Contact your Human Resources leader with questions about additional PTO.

MedStar Health has established an Associate Emergency Support Fund with an initial contribution of $2 million. This fund will be used to support emergency and crisis situations in which associates may find themselves during this time. All MedStar Health non-management associates are eligible to apply for the fund. Through the Associate Emergency Support Fund application process on myHR, associates must indicate a specific financial hardship and the amount of requested funding. A team of leaders, representing clinical and non-clinical staff, will confidentially manage the review of applications and designate funds based on each request. The funds are considered permanent associate assistance with no obligation for repayment.

Associates (and the public) may contribute to the Associate Emergency Support Fund to support their fellow associates during this unprecedented time. Visit to donate directly to the fund.
Associates can receive food and grocery delivery discounts by using:
  • Safeway Home Delivery Services, which offers associates $3 discount. Visit and enter promo code: MSHSAVE.
  • BenefitHub to earn cash back and free food delivery on GrubHub, Postmates and SHIPT. Visit and enter referral code: 1AWM2L.
MedStar Health is partnering with participating hotels in Maryland and the Washington, D.C., region to provide rooms for our associates and physicians who prefer to isolate themselves and/or stay in a private room following shifts to mitigate potential exposure to family, household members and/or roommates. The cost for these accommodations will be covered by MedStar Health.

This benefit covers one, single-occupancy room per associate—no guests are permitted. Associates must provide their MedStar ID badge upon check-in (and for some, a credit card) to the participating hotel. Click here to view participating hotels, booking information and cleaning/linen services (which vary by location).

Associates are encouraged to talk with their leader if they have questions about appropriate use of these resources.
Our telehealth platform, MedStar eVisit, provides quick, convenient access to trusted medical providers, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any mobile device or computer.
